Why Wellington's music scene is better than Auckland's

We think the Wellington music scene is way better than Auckland’s music scene, but in case you’re still on the fence here’s our top 5 reasons why.

  1. You don’t need to be part of the 1% to see live music in Welly. We have free gigs all the time like Eyegum Wednesdays at San Fran and Garden Magic at the Botans.

  2. Small venues. You may be thinking, wait, how is that a plus? But trust us being so close to the band they could spit on you is way more fun than staring at their silhouettes from miles away.

  3. Fresh Blood. Wellington is full of artists, with new ones popping up everyday. So there will always be new music for you to find (and if you’re lost check out our Spotify playlist Something New).

  4. No JAFAS. Well not none but certainly a lot less.

  5. Wellington has the best music community. No matter what gig you go to you will find people to have bevy and yarn with and let’s be honest what’s better than that?
