Switxh Scott
Switxh, 26, non-binary, Aucklander turned Wellington local. An avid gig attendee with a passion for local music at the end of their third year of the Commercial Music degree at Massey. Switxh is currently exploring live event photography to add to the variety of things they’ve picked up over the years; from stage management to makeup, lighting to sound, they’re in their element behind the scenes and making things happen. Continuing to build their brand, Blackthorn, Switxh has begun a series of club nights called “Bastion,” Oct. 31st at Valhalla and Dec. 5th, with eyes set on much bigger things.
Switxh is motivated by the relationship between artist and audience in a live environment, and aims to bring more artists to New Zealand to connect with their fans.
Blackthorn is a brand dedicated to showcasing local talent and music supporters, home of the Bastion monthly club night, promoting diversity in Wellington’s metal scene and beyond. With plans to expand this from a local to a more national level, Switxh has their sights set on taking Blackthorn worldwide and carving out a solid space on the world stage for New Zealand heavy metal, following in the footsteps of legends like Shihad, Devilskin, Alien Weaponry and so many that came before.
