Liquor Store Countdown — Something-Something

Whether you’re new to Wellington, just visiting, or a through-and-through Wellingtonian, getting to know your local liquor stores should be common practice. If this isn’t you, I’m here to give you a comprehensive Welly (CBD) liquor store countdown.

5. Cuba Liquor World
Convience of being smack in the CBD is just about all Cuba Liquor world has going for it. Because of this, prices are driven substantially higher than the majority of the competition. It’s a little cramped and often over crowed on on a weekend night. Not great

4. Big Barrel Kent Terrace
This one is fairly new on my radar. I’ve only been a handful of times but my experience has been nice. It’s fresh, well spaced out and has friendly staff. The only thing, it’s pretty out of the way. Not on my go-to list

3. Bottle-O Cambridge Terrace
Bottle-O Cambridge Terrace has a special place in my heart. Regardless of it not being the closest to where I was living, last year Bottle-O became my go to because of how great the blokes at the desk are. Always up to spin a yarn, they remember your face and make your liquor buying experience a special one! Happy days

2. Liquorland Victoria Street
Liquorland somewhat speaks for itself. The user experience is great -- well spaced out, great customer flow, plenty of selection, and friendly staff at the desk and on the door for those busier nights. No complaints!

1. Discount Liquor
In retrospect this list has really just been liquor stores closest to my house, but regardless of this bias, here’s my number one pick, Discount Liquor. The name says it all… they’ve got cheaper booze! The staff are also very charismatic and overall make you feel great about your alcohol purchasing habit. 5 stars!
