The arts and music scene in Pōneke comes alive over summer! We’re all about live music on streets, bbqs and beers and beaching till the sun goes down. We also hold some epic festivals that are FREE for all to come along to. Stellar line ups, music all day until the stars come out, food trucks galore..it’s the absolute works. Here are our thoughts on some of the best festivals to check out over Summer without having to break the bank!

3. CubaDupa

Te Whanganui-a-Tara’s iconic street festival is back and is themed The Beautiful Disruption. Thousands of artists come together to celebrate vibrancy, diversity and the creative spirit of our people. Programmes include music, installations, dance, pop-up performances and more. March 2023.

2. Gardens Magic

Spend a night under the stars and fairy lights in the luscious Botanic Gardens on a soft summer evening listening to live music. Grab your pals, a blanket and snacks and enjoy some gorgeous live kiwi tunes! Jan 2023.

1. Newtown Festival

We get to take over Newtown with the one and only Newtown Festival! With numerous music stages, busking spots, arts and food stalls, this event is truly buzzing. There’s nothing quite like walking down the middle of the street in the gorgeous sun with the happiest of the town while listening to some of NZ’s hottest bands live as you pass by different stages, for free!
