Gajuar

Gajuar is the solo effort of Christchurch-raised and Wellington-based up-and-coming creative Cathal Dickson, as a medium for him to express his “thoughts when they become most emotional and brash, kinda capturing sad or unhappy energy” then pairing this energy with happy tunes, creating a tight, contrasting feel. Influenced by the emotional realism of King Krule, the workmanship of Tame Impala and the DIY methodology of Ariel Pink, Cathal describes his music as, “an expressive version of “lyric worthy” events that happen in my own life or on the flipside, pretty ridiculous and intentionally cheesy imagery that doesn’t really have any context to keep a balance of reality and imagination.
